Cook, Shop, Move gives families the opportunity to enrol onto a 6-week, 2-part programme.
Part 1 – fun, weekly cooking classes with your children, alongside a Tutor from Cambridgeshire Skills; preparing delicious meals to cook at home for you and your family.
Part 2 - you will be invited to your local Central COOP store, to take part in a Savvy Shopper challenge!
Completion of this application is for the Ready, Steady, Slow Cook element.
Our 6 week ‘Ready, Steady, Slow Cook’ course will give you a fun introduction to using a slow cooker to prepare delicious, healthy and good value meals. You will be given a slow cooker to take home with you and once you have completed the course this is yours to keep.
Part 1 - Each weekly session will last for up to 2 hours; you’ll learn skills to help you plan, budget and prepare ingredients ready to take home and cook. Ingredients will be provided free of charge each week. You and your child will also try out a range of fun physical activities each week.
Part 2 - Your family will then be offered the opportunity to attend a one off ‘Savvy Shopper’ challenge at your local Coop where you will get a tour of the store and see behind the scenes. You’ll also be given vouchers to purchase ingredients for a recipe of your choice and take part in the 'Design a Recipe' book competition - where a prize will be given.
You will become more confident in the skills needed to plan, cost and prepare a meal using a slow cooker.
You will learn:
1. How to use a slow cooker to cook healthy and delicious recipes
2. How to scale a recipe up or down to help save food waste
3. How to cost up a recipe to ensure you are getting the best value
4. Food preparation and hygiene skills – children will be provided with the relevant and safe equipment so that they too can be involved in this process.
5. Take part in fun family activities to promote the benefits of physical activity with a range of partners
Your tutor will work with you to set your own individual learning goals that will support you in achieving your course and help you progress onto the next steps that are right for you.
