This course will run on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6.30pm - 8.30pm. You will need to attend both sessions weekly.
This course is mixed level. You will work towards the correct level for you based on the outcome from an initial assessment completed as part of your application.
Our accredited Functional Skills maths course gives you the essential, practical skills in maths that you can apply at work, at home or in your community by developing your numeracy skills and learn how to work with whole numbers and decimals, fractions and percentages, time, money and measurements. You will gain confidence in using maths in everyday life and work situations such as
- work out price increase and decreases when shopping and paying for bills
- calculate how much wallpaper and paint is needed to decorate
- support with your children's maths homework
- effectively budget and understand your pay slip
- understand data and produce numerical reports
- meeting employer needs to support employment or progression in work
Calculate with fractions, decimals, percentages and use ratios.
Calculate with common measures across and within the Metric and Imperial systems of measure.
Calculate speed and density.
Use properties of 2-D and 3-D shapes in calculations, including composite shapes, triangles and circles, angles and co-ordinates.
Extract, interpret and construct tables, diagrams, charts and graph and recognise patterns and correlation.
Calculate and interpret probabilities, including probabilities from group data.
Your tutor will work with you to set your own individual learning goals that will support you to complete your course and help you progress onto the next steps that are right for you.

This course is delivered online on set days and times and delivered by a tutor. You will need to attend all the live scheduled sessions for the full course duration and complete additional learning and assignment in your own time as directed by your tutor.

You will need access to a laptop or PC, camera, microphone and internet connection.
We may be able to support you with loaning this equipment if you do not have it
You will achieve City and Guilds Functional Skills maths that will enhance your CV and is recognised by employers, as well as helping you progress to Further Education.
