Our Keeping up with the Children - English course will give you the opportunity to explore how your child is taught English in school. Through engaging games and everyday activities, you'll gain confidence in supporting your child while improving your own understanding of literacy and grammar.
The course will focus on the National Curriculum and will help you to understand what your child will be learning and when. There will be opportunity to discuss strategies to support your children with reading, using technology to support learning and be able to refresh your understanding of some of the terminology your child will be using.
You will learn valuable skills that can be applied in many areas of life including:
- Supporting your child with homework
- Strategies to make literacy learning fun
- Working or volunteering with children
- An understanding of possible next steps, including careers working with children
Your tutor will help you to set your own, individual learning goals that will support you towards achieving your course aims.

This course is delivered flexibly online with regular online support and feedback meetings with your allocated tutor. You will need to commit to working through course material for the agreed hours each week and completing course work by the agreed timescales. You will also need to join the required tutor support meetings.
